This kitchen management app prototype represents my self-directed journey into UX/UI design using Figma. The project tackles household food waste through intelligent inventory management and proactive notifications. I designed a comprehensive mobile-first interface that helps families track pantry and refrigerator items while providing advance warnings about expiring food.
Through extensive research, outreach to design professionals, and hands-on trial and error, I taught myself Figma's capabilities and core design principles. The process involved studying user interface patterns, accessibility standards, and mobile-first design approaches. I focused on creating intuitive navigation, consistent visual hierarchy, and clear call-to-action elements throughout the user experience.
This app tackles the significant problem of household food waste by providing users with customizable alerts one week before items expire. Notifications can be delivered through push notifications, text messages, or email based on user preference.
Beyond notifications, the prototype includes features for tracking both pantry and refrigerator items, with easy-to-use interfaces for adding new purchases and monitoring current inventory levels across different storage areas.
Note: This prototype is currently in its early development phase and represents a strong foundation for future iterations. While some features remain rough and unfinished, the core functionality and user experience framework demonstrate the app's potential to meaningfully address household food waste challenges.
